considerably long
History of Castellia
Long ago, before these days of peace and cooperation between the five Prime Nations, there were two nations, Noxus, the Darkness nation, and Sieghart, the Light nation. The Starmaster Saykos, creator of Castellia, intended for these two nations to keep each other in check instead of taking arms against each other.
Over millennia and millennia these two kingdoms had grown a bitter rivalry between each other, simply because of their differences. They despised each other, and the inhabitant of one was forbidden to enter the other nation. Anybody mentioning anything good about the other kingdom would be thrown in a cell for a week or more, and then given a stern lecture. It was inevitable that these two nations would take arms against each other thought it was not intended for them to do so, and it was by an action of mistake that they did.
A scouting party of Sieghart had been sent to survey the Middle Lands, the land between Noxus and Sieghart which is now more commonly known as the Prime Nations. Noxus also sent a similar scouting party, and the two met in the middle of a volcano land(what is now known as Cinderfall). Each mistook the other for a small force sent to scout the other nation, and so they engaged in a small skirmish. The survivors travelled back to their respective kingdoms and reported that the other nation had begun the skirmish(it is still not known who drew the first blade), and either kingdom took no time in sending diplomats and engaging in negotiations. Instead, they did it the hard way.
Each nation raised up a force of their strongest warriors and the two, not amounting more than five thousand men each, marched on each other. Each nation expected to end the conflict quickly, but they did not realize that it would change the course of Castellia’s history – and for the good, for the most part.
This first meeting of the armies was known as the Ignition at Behr Ridge. Both armies took heavy losses and neither of them wanted to retreat. Relentlessly the soldiers of Noxus charged their renowned spearmen into Sieghart’s lines, while Sieghart’s most experienced troops bombarded the enemy with blinding light bombs. This fighting went on for who knows how long, and eventually Sieghart remained victorious, in a gallant show of infantry in what was known as Vok’s Charge, named after the Sieghart forces’ general. They were able to brutishly overrun the darkness troops in their own trenches, overwhelming them with pure strength. Emperor Vastkan, ruler of Noxus, infuriated at this loss at Behr Ridge, raised up even stronger armies and drafted the youngest and most fit of men into his ranks. At this time the common citizens of both kingdoms opposed the war. Many protested, and most of those were put down. Neither emperor was wise enough to realize war was not the answer, yet they continued to engage in bloody conflict.
This constant battering of each other and useless warfare went on for a period of ten years. The two nations had not gained any progress in the last 10 years, and so each intended to end the war once and for all and in the process take control of the Middle Lands. So they raised up their strongest armies, even stronger than the ones at Behr Creek, and employed their most masterful tacticians and leaders to lead them, and marched on each other once again, not unsimilar to the Ignition. They met each other in the Moors of Wayland, a barren place with no life whatsoever. A chilling place, battle or not. They took their lines and set up their artillery, and at Dawn of the Ninetieth Day of the Ten Thousandth and First Year, called the Bloodshed Year, the two nations charged at each other with battlecrys and weapons raised, intent on annihilating each other. And so they did. Not much from each of the sides survived that morning at Moors. They completely destroyed each other. And those who lived wished they did not.
Noxus and Sieghart were tired. The civillians were ready to pack up and leave. Even the mighty emperors admitted they were low on resources and morale. A group of citizens on each side decided that there was nothing in Noxus and Sieghart for them. It was all destroyed in the war. They trudged through the city gates and never looked back. These two groups were ordered to never return to Sieghart or Noxus again if they left, and they didn’t intend to. They were headed for the Middle Lands for a new life.
The two expeditions met each other at a valley of berries and flowers, hardly a fit place to spill blood. Instead of provoking each other, the leaders of each convoy shook hands and declared peace between the two weary groups. They did not want to fight anymore, and so the two communitys intertwined. The central group eventually split up into 5 groups, one for each of the distinctive regions; the regions of Earth, called Terraria, the region of Fire, called Cinderfall, the region of Water, called Wavecrest, the region of Air, called Aerodar, the region of Lightning, called Voltara. These groups set up their own governments, and then a central government in the land between the nations, called Acara. The kingdoms realized they needed leaders, and so they elected the strongest warriors and most mindful leaders to become the first Castellans, keepers of the almighty Order and Peace. These individuals were:
Jhon Voratus, Castellan of Cinderfall of the Inferno Sezmat, Castellan of Aerodar of the Starscape Ennobi, Castellan of Earth of the Novaflower Kyle, Castellan of Water of the Tsunami Jekso, Castellan of Lightning of the Bolt.
These five were the very first Castellans, and they held up their title proudly. Even the Starmaster approved of the formation of the Castellans, and granted them his own personal gifts to help them keep order and peace in Castellia, each with their own respective powers: The Starforge Hammer of the Fire Castellan, the Staff of a Thousand Whirlwinds of the Wind Castellan, the Novaflower Pouch of the Earth Castellan, the Sagewave Blade of the Water Castellan, and the Eternal Sparkgloves of the Lightning Castellan.
These 5 legendary items are known to the peoples as the Starmasters’ Gifts, and only the Castellans are permitted to use them. Although the greatest gift of all to the Castellans is the mastering of each element: upon knighthood to a Castellan, they are bestowed with control of their respective element; the power called Tekyon. This grants them a unique connection to their surroundings, exclusive only to the Castellans.
Combined with their gifts and their own personal skills, the Castellans are a force fit for stardom. When the Castellans become too old to pursue their position, the titles are handed down to the next generation of warriors and leaders, along with the Gifts of the Starmaster.
